The Republic of Moldova is a part of European countries located in south - eastern Europe between Ukraine and Romania. Moldova is widely recognized by over 180 countries and now is a member of the Council of Europe and the United Nations, too.
Moldova has a population of about 5 million people, and is very densely populated. About 60% of the people are Moldovans. Large minority groups include Ukrainians (15%), Russians (14%), Bulgarians (9%), and Turks. About 15-20 % people has 2 international passports of either Romanian, Bulgarian, Ukrainian or Russian as well as Moldovan.
The official language is Romanian (Moldovan), but 95% of the Moldovan people speak Russian and Russian well, and about 5% speak only Russian. About 15% people speak English or Italian or French as well as Russian and Romanian.
The territory covering 33.843 square kilometers. The capital of Moldova Republic is called Chisinau, which has about more than 700 000 inhabitants.
The country became independent on 27th of August 1991 from former USSR, and is undertaking a serious program of social, economic, political and social reforms to secure its future.
Unfortunately Moldova is politically still controlled by communist party, and quite slowly moving to the direction of democracy.
Moldova is still one of the poorest countries in Europe. According to an unofficial statistics, the average salary is considered about 200 USD a month. About 25% of people are working abroad and supporting their family living in Moldova.
The popular countries to work abroad are Italy, Spain, and Portugal, and most of people try to immigrant and work in these countries illegally.
